Wayne Newton was born on 3th April, 1942, in Norfolk, Virginia. He grew up in a musical family and began performing with his older brother, Jerry, at six. The brothers would sing and play various instruments at local clubs and theaters, honing their skills and building a following.
As a teenager, Newton’s talent caught the attention of singer-songwriter Bobby Darin, who helped him secure a record deal with Capitol Records. In 1963, Newton released his breakout hit, “Danke Schoen,” which became a top-ten hit and catapulted him to stardom.
